CAMPING IN COMFORT
JENNIFER, LIZ AND THE ECO PODS: OUR STORY SO FAR...
Ebbw View Eco Stays are in the process of being designed and created by us - Jennifer and Liz - in the heart of the Caerphilly hills in South Wales.
We saw this beautiful site in late 2018 and fell in love with its tranquility and stunning views over the Ebbw Valley. We love to connect with the natural countryside and encourage holiday makers to do the same in an environmentally sustainable way.
Our dream is to build a small camp site on the hillside above the Crosskeys area, where you can experience all the benefits of an outdoor holiday, amazing views across the valleys, with the home comforts of a secure roof over your head, the cosiness of a wood-burning stove, indoor and outdoor cooking facilities and an en-suite bathroom.
With composting toilets, solar powered energy, naturally sourced water and a uncompromising commitment to using ecologically safe washing and cleaning products, our wooden constructed Eco Pods and your stay with us will take you back to nature in the kindest, calmest ways.
In order to maintain a quiet environment and also to reflect the steep terrain and limited space for young children to play safely on site, our Pods are just for adults and children over 16 years old.
Our hill is located just a few miles from Newport to the East, Cardiff to the South and the glorious Brecon Beacons to the North. It is therefore the perfect base for you to explore South Wales and enjoy walking, mountain biking, horse riding or local tourist spots, or just to reconnect with the natural environment and absorb the unique views. Bring your dog and meet our own Ebbw View resident moggies and mutt.
Our dream is now on its way to fulfilment, with the delivery and construction of the Eco Pods having started in 2019 and steady progress underway. Getting everything built and just right for us to ensure you as our guests have a fully comfortable and enjoyable experience, is going to take time - more time than we could have anticipated before we began! The full range of Welsh weather is also dictating the speed of the development to some extent and but we plan to open our doors to guests in early 2021.
